Andrea Sherman, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Andrea Sherman grew up in the Bay Area and attended the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate degree. She went on to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Kitts and completed her clinical training at the University of Minnesota. After graduating in 2017, she moved to Southern California to work at a busy small animal practice.
Dr. Sherman and her family recently came back to the Bay Area to join the Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic team. At SVC, Dr. Sherman will further explore her areas of special interest including exotic animal medicine, surgery, and internal medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Sherman loves spending time with friends and family, whether it’s outdoors going hiking and swimming, or indoors reading and playing board games. She especially enjoys quality time with her husband Alan, daughter Emmi, and lab mix Pippin.
Why Dr. Sherman became a veterinarian:
“When I was a kid, I loved listening to James Herriot audiobooks with my parents. Hearing these stories of how veterinarians connected with animals and eased their pain warmed my heart and ignited a passion for veterinary medicine.
Over the years I have had the joy of caring for a wide variety of species, and some of my favorite experiences were when I had the opportunity to work with wild and endangered animals at zoo and wildlife rehabilitation hospitals. Getting to play my own small part in improving these special animals’ lives was amazing. These experiences have created a special place in my heart for exotic species.”
